Philea disseminates and promotes good practices by foundations in gender equality through a new study

The European Philanthropy Association (Philea), through its Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Network, has published the report “Tested Practices in Integrating a Gender Perspective: Foundations in Dialogue.” The report brings together reflections and concrete examples from foundations that are putting gender equality into practice and offers practical guidance to support foundation managers in this field.

Based on the Philea Equality Framework, the publication analyzes gender equality in relation to broader issues of power, equity, and systemic inequality. It examines the current context, including the rise of anti-gender movements, and highlights the need for strategic, collaborative, and transformative approaches.

From a philanthropic perspective, the report shows that philanthropy has a range of options for integrating a gender perspective into its operations, programs, funding, and overall strategy, demonstrating a real impact on outcomes—not only in terms of gender, but also in addressing the many challenges philanthropy seeks to tackle.

The publication therefore explores the importance of gender in philanthropy and what is required to integrate a gender perspective into operations, programs, funding, and overall strategy, through reflections, practical guidance, and real-life examples.
It also shares lessons learned from foundations already working with a gender perspective and sets out principles and practical steps to help others move forward in this area.
