New edition (2025) of the World Cooperative Monitor: Ranking of the Top 300 Largest Cooperative and Mutual Enterprises

The World Cooperative Monitor 2025, produced by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) in collaboration with Euricse, offers an updated and comprehensive snapshot of the global cooperative movement. The report analyzes the world’s 300 largest cooperatives and mutuals, highlighting their contribution to building more sustainable, inclusive and resilient economies.

Now in its thirteenth edition, the report carries particular weight as it coincides with the United Nations’ International Year of Cooperatives, providing an in-depth look at how cooperatives are helping transform the global economy toward more sustainable, fair and democratic models.

The analysis of the Top 300 shows strong growth in the sector, with a combined turnover of USD 2.789 trillion — an increase compared to the previous edition. Agriculture, insurance and trade remain the most represented sectors, together generating more than 80% of the total value.

Among the leading organizations are Crédit Agricole (France), State Farm (USA) and REWE Group (Germany), while cooperatives from emerging economies — particularly India — stand out for their high ratio of turnover to GDP per capita, underscoring their role in fostering local development and economic inclusion.

Developed in collaboration with the International Cooperative Entrepreneurship Think Tank (ICETT), the newly launched Cooperatives and Mutuals Leadership Circle (CM50) and Co-op News, the 2025 Monitor complements its economic analysis with a rich set of impact stories and interviews with cooperative leaders worldwide. These testimonies illustrate how the cooperative model provides practical solutions to global challenges such as food security, climate change, access to healthcare and education, digitalization and financial inclusion.
