Making of the international tripartite definition of Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE), adopted at the 110th session of the ILC

"I would like to share some highlights from the making of the definition of the SSE, that was adopted as part of the International Labour Conference (ILC) resolution on decent work and the SSE in June 2022. The same definition was also included in the UN General Assembly (GA) resolution on promoting the SSE for sustainable development adopted in April 2023".

Seoul successfully hosts the first CIRIEC International Research Conference on Social Economy held in Asia

From July 4 to 6, the 9th CIRIEC International Research Conference on Social Economy was held in Seoul, South Korea. Organized by Sungkonghoe University, with the collaboration of CIRIEC-International, the Conference has had the participation of 300 people from 41 countries, who have presented 130 communications on the most current issues of the social and cooperative economy from a global perspective to the local or regional.

Joint statement of worker cooperatives and European civil society for an ambitious directive on platform work

CECOP, The European Youth Forum, Solidar and the Social Platform have co-signed a joint statement on the Directive to improve the working conditions in platform work.  As an alliance of civil society organisations and cooperative enterprises, they call on the European Parliament, the Council, and the European Commission to adopt an “ambitious” Directive on improving working conditions in platform work.

The BREED (Building Community Resilience and Sustainable Development through social economy) project is proud to announce the successful implementation of its capacity building program aimed at fostering entrepreneurial skills and promoting sustainable development in local communities. OECD’s report ‘Beyond pink-collar jobs for women and the social economy’

Building on many data sources and country examples, the new OECD’s report analyses women’s employment in the social and solidarity economy (SSE), explores challenges to gender equality in the SSE)and provides policy recommendations to recognize women’s work and leadership in the SSE and in the wider economy. It also suggests ways to foster their participation in high-growth sectors within the SSE, such as technology-intensive and green sectors.

9th EMES International Research Conference on Social Enterprise

The 9th edition of the EMES International Research Conference on Social Enterprise will take place from 11th to 14th September 2023 in the city of Frankfurt am Main, Germany, on the theme 'Act locally, change globally: Social enterprises and cooperatives for more resilient economies and societies'.


COODING, first international event for cooperatives on digital and new technologies

On 29 and 30 September CECOP invites you to Spazio Dumbo in Bologna to participate in COODING, an acronym for COOperatives Digital Innovation & Networking Growth. Cooperators will have the opportunity to discuss and enhance cooperation around the use of digital and new technologies in line with cooperative principles and values. COODING aims to support the development of a shared digital mindset among cooperators through meetings with experts in the field, the testimony of cooperatives' best practices, B2B opportunities, and the exchange among cooperators.


European Conference on Social Economy in San Sebastian, 13 and 14 November

Within the framework of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU and San Sebastian's status as Social Economy Capital, a new European Social Economy Conference will be held in Donostia-San Sebastian on 13 and 14 November, which is expected to bring together around 2,000 participants from all over Europe and other regions of the world, both on-site and on-line.
